In preparation for the 26th WPC Energy Congress set to take place in Astana in 2028, Mr. Pedro Miras, President of WPC Energy, paid a working visit to Kazakhstan’s capital. Organized by the Kazakhstan National Committee of WPC Energy, represented by the KAZENERGY Association, the visit included meetings with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and a tour of the EXPO International Exhibition Centre, the future venue for the Congress.
During talks, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to hosting the “Energy Olympics,” which will mark the first time this prestigious event is held in Central Asia. He emphasized the Congress’s potential to elevate Kazakhstan’s global standing and boost local business tourism and infrastructure development.
Mr. Miras praised Kazakhstan’s active role within WPC Energy and expressed confidence in the country’s ability to successfully host the event. Informal discussions also explored future collaborations and knowledge-sharing with organizers of the upcoming 2026 Congress in Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Miras concluded his visit by highlighting Astana’s strong infrastructure, noting that the International EXPO Centre meets all WPC Energy’s requirements for the 2028 Congress.
